Words of Wisdom update

Thank you for the words of wisdom that have been received. We are planning a display in each church of words of wisdom and phrases that are helping us through this time of isolation and distancing. We would like postcard sized items with your favourite inspirational words or phrases which can be displayed in your local church…Would you like to create a postcard sized (landscape or portrait format) item as a pert of the history of this time? These can be written, embroidered, crafted with recycle materials, painted or just printed. The display will be installed from October until the virus is beaten! Please deliver your completed words and design to the box outside the church porch at Milverton and at the gate at Fitzhead. If you wish to have an item returned, please include your name and address on the back. This is a Community project, by the Community, for the Community…

Trees of Hope and Memory

It has been good to see so many prayer ribbons placed on our trees of hope and memory in each churchyard. These trees will continue as a focus for prayer until 2 November, All Souls Day, a day when we remember those we have loved and lost, the ribbons will be removed and placed together in St Michael’s Church for a special service at 6pm to remember our loved ones. If restrictions mean we are unable to have a service in the church, a simple time of remembering will be held around the tree of hope and memory in St Michael’s churchyard.

Church services

Church services have restarted in our churches, the services are simple and short, and include all the requirements of social distancing, clean hands, track and trace information and the wearing of face masks, but despite all those restrictions it has been a joy to spend time together, but we are aware that there are some people still having to shield and stay isolated, please do not forget them. We continue to share most church information by email and if you do not receive the benefice e-bulletin and would like to be included, please email milverton.vicarage@gmail.com and we will add you to the mailing list. If you do not do email, we are happy to post a bulletin to you and to request this please call 01823 400305.

As we move into Autumn, there may well be further challenges, restrictions and frustrations ahead. As a community we face these things together remembering to stay safe, watch out for each other and be kind.
