Fitzhead Village

Milverton Street Fair

Thank you to everyone in the village and the wider parish for coming along to the key Milverton trust fundraiser ‘ The Milverton Street fair’. The day was a great success ! the sun shone drawing in huge crowds which meant many food stalls sold out quickly and stalls holders were pleased, including one entrepreneurial young lady, who borrowed stall fees and gazebo costs from her parents, only to immediately repay them and make a profit. Well done indeed!.

This year The Milverton Trust (TMT) Trustee’s, and many kind volunteers, ran our own burger / hot dog stall and a prosecco bar ! Both hugely successful. The aim of this change was to raise money for the trust coffers to support more grants for the village in 2024-2025. After the TMT AGM we will be able to share the money raised at the Street Fair.

Thank you to all the residents of Milverton who may have been disrupted during the Street fair event. We really appreciate everyone moving vehicles to enable stall holders to set up, and this year, due to the closure of Wood street, there was a considerable amount of traffic between North Street and the Sawmill. I know this impacted residents in this area, thank you for your patience.

It was really nice to see the Police and Community Support Officers enjoying the event and helping us out. We also had off duty officers supporting us with traffic which was a real bonus. Well done to Julian who won the hat competition. Thank you to Claire from the MSA who supported the school children in practicing Maypole dancing. This is a really lovely event for May Day bank holiday

The TMT team could not have done this with the great drive and determination of Chris Mann who led the team stoically through months of blood sweat and tears. The Street Fair takes about 9 months to organise. If you would like to volunteer to help out next year please let us know

Thank you to all our volunteers during the day and the clear up, this event is solely run by volunteers who care about our lovely village.
