Fitzhead Village

From the Vicarage

Spring is really coming into season and May saw the new season of weddings begin, every wedding is different, and very individual, and the variety of wedding dresses are astounding, If you were around in Fitzhead on the late May Bank holiday you would have seen the display of wedding dresses in St James Church and the Tithe barn showing how styles and fabrics have changed over the years.

We have also recently celebrated Pentecost and one of the symbols representing the Holy Spirit is a dove. Wells Cathedral has had an art installation called the Peace Dove Project and every dove had a prayer for peace written on them; peace in the world, peace in our community and peace in our hearts. We are continuing this theme by having templates of doves in all our churches for you to write your prayer for peace and these shall be displayed in all our churches in rotation.

‘Peace’ brings me on to 6th June, the 80th Anniversary of the D Day Landings. At St Peter’s Langford Budville there is to be a Coffee morning with informal reflections and a sharing of our hopes for peace 10.30am onwards. At 6.30pm the bells of St Michael’s Milverton shall be ‘Ringing for Peace’ and at Ash Priors at 8pm there shall be a gathering in the field below the village hall (with a bar) and the Beacon Bonfire will be lit at 9.15pm

Please pray for peace.

Helene
