The wonderful Month of June has arrived!
On the 21 June, the Summer Solstice brings us the longest day and the shortest night. With the sun reaching its peak, the temperatures climbing and all around the beauty of nature at its finest.
In nature the flowers have hit their most prolific with orchids, daisies, lavender, poppies and of course the roses all in their glorious colours. Strawberries are at their finest, and who can’t resist a bowl of them, smothered with delicious cream.
Herbs like St John’s Wort, Mugwort, Elderflower, Verbena are all in their prime and when picked, made ready for their various uses in healing, medicines and tea’s. The trees are all looking splendid with the leaves in full flourish. Some birds may have produced their first brood and are working on a second.
Everywhere there is a sense of abundance and growth, which includes ourselves!
This is the peak of our expressive selves, a time to look at our achievements and who you are, what you have done, as I have been suggesting you do over the past few months.
Have you achieved those ideas and plans, or are they still works in progress? Wherever you are, whatever you are doing, don’t give up, it is still a good time for you.
As we start to move into a time of ‘within ourselves’ and our achievements, all of our dreams can still be something to move forward with and continue to work on.
In the church calendar, we now move into ‘ordinary’ time with the many festivals following Easter having come to an end before we move into Advent in December. St John the Baptist’s festival day is on the 24 June.
This is the time when we when we really appreciate the wonders of nature and God’s presence around us.
A time to really be at one with it all and feel for the Spirituality that abounds everywhere. Go to your own ‘thin places’ and feel your connection with God knowing the peace that can be around you and the searching of how you can be that better, nicer and more understanding person, not only to yourself but also to your family, your neighbours and your friends! Make it a better world by your kindness!
