Whether you’re a Fitzhead Fete stalwart or you’ve never been before, you’re in for a treat. So save the date for this lovely, traditional event, to be held at Fitzhead Cricket Ground on the afternoon of 22 July.
Entry and parking are free, and there will be a host of stalls from great clothes bargains and books, to homemade cakes and jams. You can sit at tables with friends and enjoy delicious cakes and teas; listen to Wiveliscombe Town Band, enjoy the beer tent and a barbecue. You can take part in fun races for children and adults, enter a prize draw, have fun at the ducking stool, and more.
Plus there’s a traditional flower show tent, with a chance for people of all ages to show their best flowers, fruit and vegetables, crafts and cakes.
On Sunday the 23 July there will also be a fun duck race. It’s part of the fete weekend, and is held at Holcombe Farm at the bottom of Tyler’s Lane. Children and adults alike enjoy running alongside the river and watching a sea of yellow plastic ducks bobbing along. And there’s always tea and cake on the lawn to console yourself if you haven’t won.
People come from miles around to enjoy the Fitzhead Fete, which has been going for decades and has a great reputation.
Please put the date in your diary, or if you’d like to get involved in helping, contact organiser Abi Wickham email at abiwickham@gmail.com or call 01823 400418.
