Fitzhead Fete is all set to bounce back once more with its fabulous teas, stalls and entertainments on Saturday July 23 at the village Cricket Ground.

The fete, which traces its history back for many decades, had to be postponed because of the pandemic for the past two years – but now it’s all go as organisers look forward to a bumper year once again.

The fete will take place from 2pm to 4.30pm, with free parking and entrance, and a host of attractions. These include:

  • brass band performances by Wiveliscombe Town Band (kindly sponsored by an anonymous local person)
  • a beer tent
  • delicious teas with homemade cakes and scones
  • traditional flower show tent
  • a barbecue all afternoon
  • prize draw
  • village stocks
  • children’s races and games
  • an ice-cream tricycle
  • flower posies and a host of stalls

There will be a tempting choice to browse among, with books and bathroom products to new and nearly new clothes, cakes and preserves, toys, sweets, jigsaws, fresh produce, tombola, bric a brac and more.

The fete always attracts visitors from miles around, and if the weather is good, there will also be a bring-your-own barbecue at 6.30pm.

The following day, a fun Duck Race will take place at 3pm at Holcombe Farm in the village, where delicious cakes and teas will also be on offer in the gardens.

Look forward to seeing you in Fitzhead on Saturday July 23 for a fabulous fete!
