Fitzhead Village

Harvest celebrations 2021

Harvest Festival in church was really well attended and several others joined us for a cracking Supper provided by Janet and Denise in the Tithe Barn. Delicious bread and cheeses and damson cheese and chutneys by our favourite Fitzhead jelly maker – thank you, Janet, you never disappoint! And Paula’s excellent ham from Thorne’s was a treat – thank you, too. It was great to get together again and next year will hopefully be back to a capacity crowd without the need for social distancing.

The PCC would also like to again show our gratitude to those regular helpers who couldn’t make the Thank You Drinks party on Wednesday evening. Prosecco corks popped in the church and we raised a glass in your direction but missed you, not least Sarah Hartman who does so much and then suddenly had to work in Musgrove that evening. So many people, however religious or not, offer time and expertise and good cheer in the running of St James’s as an important village hub. Fitzhead thrives and we are lucky to live here.

We will be delivering the produce to Taunton Food Bank and the Homeless Centre at Lindley House on East Reach on Tuesday 12 October. People have expressed wishes to donate so please bring your contributions to the church (open all day from 9am to 6pm) and leave inside. It is looking beautiful with the decorations so do enjoy a wander round. Supplies are urgently needed by the Food Bank.
