The Advent challenge this year is to reflect on Mary and Joseph’s journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem, 90 miles of varied countryside. Some people are creating 90 squares for a blanket, others are considering that journey studying scripture and geographical details.
I had the privilege of visiting the Holy Land in 2000 and following this trail by coach, so this year I am walking it. Of course I cannot go to the Holy Land so I am planning a route that is similar in terrain and distance, and, as all our Christmas fundraising is usually for Open Door supporting the homeless of Taunton, there is a donations page Advent walk 90 miles distance from Nazareth.
Progress can be followed during December on Facebook pages Purple Pilgrim, Benefice of Milverton, Halse, Fitzhead and Ash Priors or Helene Stainer.
How will you think of that long, dusty, tiring journey?
