Fitzhead Village in Somerset

Fitzhead Oil Delivery Scheme

Fitzhead Oil Delivery Schem

This scheme is run for neighbours living within the Parish boundary. The benefits of the scheme are that we can collectively barter between companies for discounts per litre on bulk orders, negotiate prompt delivery dates, and cut down the number of journeys tankers make to Fitzhead decreasing our carbon footprint and heavy traffic coming through the village. On average the scheme saves registered neighbours about 3.75p per litre (before VAT) on the cost of ordering fuel individually, and in total about £3,000 - £4,000 a year across the village. The scheme only acts as broker for orders, and it is the responsibility of members to ensure that registration and order details are correct, amended when necessary, and that prompt payments are made following deliveries.

If you need oil as domestic fuel (only) and want to use the scheme, we would be grateful if you could complete the Registration Form (click link to open) and return it as soon as possible.  This will enable us to create a record to help place orders on your behalf. Order Slips can be made available on request although corresponding by email is more efficient; and the deadlines for orders are the second Thursdays in January, April, July, and October.

If you have any queries about the scheme please contact: (tba).

She is able to take orders by email, slip, or letter, but not over the phone because she needs paper copy authorisation to reduce the possibility of mistakes or misunderstandings, and to cover the Group.

Orders can be made for: (1) specific amounts or (2) tank top ups to estimated amounts*; and rather than running low on fuel, and needing to place orders outside the scheme, smaller regular orders are encouraged (minimum orders: 500 litres).

AGA Additive can be included with orders on request. This is manufactured to increase the efficiency of systems using these stoves rather than boilers.

Unless you would prefer otherwise, we will contact you occasionally with updates, will notify you when possible by email when she receives your orders, and by email or phone with negotiated rates and delivery dates.

Please note:

(i)         We are not able to add orders to deliveries after the set deadlines because of the additional admin involved.

ii)         When estimating amounts needed to top up tanks* please be aware that oil companies will fill tanks to whatever level is needed and this sometimes can be significantly more (or sometimes less) than estimated. If receiving significantly more is likely to cause financial problems it may be wiser to order a specific amount because companies cannot reduce the number of litres after delivery without charging.

If you don't get your oil via the Village Scheme, Darch Oil Yeovil has been supplying domestic and commercial oil in this area for 30 years.  You can order there oil 24 hours a day 365 days a year at a very competitive price with 5* service guaranteed from ordering to delivery.  [Caroline will also be getting quotes from them for the Village Oil Scheme]
